3 Killed In Massive Fire At Apartment Building In Gujarat's Rajkot, Around 30 Rescued

A massive fire broke out at an apartment building in Gujarat's Rajkot on Friday. At least three people have been killed in the blaze,while several people were feared to be trapped in the Atlantis Building, a high-end residential scheme located on the 150 Feet Ring Road.

According to media reports, as many as 30 people were feared to be trapped inside the building. However, the firefighters managed to bring the fire under control and rescued the residents.
The fire is suspected to have been erupted by a short circuit in a flat where furniture work was underway. It ignited on the sixth floor at around 10 AM, rapidly spreading to the fifth floor, triggering panic amongst residents.

Emergency services rushed to the spot to extinguish the flames as thick plumes of smoke billowed from the building.
Fire brigade personnel arrived swiftly and began efforts to control the blaze. A video of the incident showed ambulances and fire trucks present at the site while a crowd near the complex anxiously watched the rescue operations.
Two firefighters were seriously injured during the operations, India Today reported.
Firefighters employed hydraulic lifts to evacuate residents from the upper floors, to ensure the safe removal of several families, Hindustan Times reported citing sources.
DCP Rajkot City Jagdish Bangarwa said, “Three persons have died, and one is injured and being treated in a hospital. Everyone else was safely evacuated.”
Parthrajsinh Gohil, Rajkot DCP Crime said that several residents were rescued successfully and that the cause of the fire is still under investigation. Early indications are pointing to a possible short circuit during renovation work in the sixth-floor lobby, he said.
