Rift Between Nayab Saini And Anil Vij? Haryana CM Breaks Silence On ‘Narazgi’ Rumours
Anil Vij had alleged that no action was taken against those who played a role in attempting to defeat him in the 2024 assembly elections from the Ambala Cantt seat.

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Tuesday dismissed any speculation of discord with Energy and Transport Minister Anil Vij, stating that he is a senior party leader and has the right to express his views. Saini's remarks come in response to Vij's recent comments, where he was consistently taking indirect jabs at him in the past few days.
Earlier, Vij had alleged that no action was taken against those who played a role in attempting to defeat him in the 2024 assembly elections from the Ambala Cantt seat. He also claimed that a powerful political leader had backed efforts to ensure his defeat.
"We were together in the cabinet (meeting on Tuesday). We also held a review meeting of a department," Saini said, news agency PTI reported. Reacting to his upset, he added, "He is our senior leader. There is no 'narazgi'. He has the right to say."
Sharing concerns that officers were not listening to Vij, Saini answered, "It is not like this. All officers obey. Everybody has responsibilities. I have and officers also have."
On Monday, Vij, a seven-time MLA, shared images suggesting that individuals associated with an ally of Saini had also been seen with an Independent candidate he defeated in the state assembly elections last year. Vij had secured victory in the October Assembly polls from Ambala Cantt, defeating Independent candidate Chitra Sarwara.
Vij's Frustration Over Senior Officials
On January 31, he claimed that no action was taken against the officials who played a role in trying to defeat him in the elections, even after raising the issues against them 100 days ago. Vij lashed out at Saini, saying, "Since the day of assuming office, he (Saini) has been on the 'udan khatola' (chopper). If he comes down, he will see the people's suffering."
On Sunday, he stated that no one can take away his seniority. "Everything can be taken away from me but my seniority cannot be snatched. I am a seven-time MLA," Vij had said.
On January 30, Anil Vij expressed strong dissatisfaction over officials not following his directives, stating that for the sake of his Ambala Cantt constituents, he was willing to undertake a fast-unto-death, similar to farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal.
Back in October, Vij had also voiced frustration over the "absence" of certain senior officials at a meeting he convened in Ambala. Previously, he had often been at odds with former Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, who now serves as a Union minister.
When the BJP first formed the government in Haryana in 2014, Vij, along with leaders like Ram Bilas Sharma, was seen as a strong contender for the chief minister's post. However, the party ultimately chose Manohar Lal Khattar, a first-time MLA at the time.
In March 2024, Vij expressed his displeasure with the BJP for not consulting him before replacing Khattar with Nayab Singh Saini as chief minister. He claimed that he only became aware of the leadership change during a BJP MLAs' meeting in Chandigarh when Saini’s name was officially announced.
"When Nayab Saini replaced Khattar, people asked, 'Why not Anil Vij?' Many from the state and my constituency met me regarding this. I have always obeyed my party's orders, but I said, if the party makes me CM, I will change Haryana's 'takdeer and tasveer," Vij had stated in September.
