Security Beefed Up In Delhi Ahead Of Polls. Over 150 Paramilitary Companies, 30,000 Policemen To Be Deployed
Over 150 paramilitary companies and 30,000 police personnel will be deployed, with additional forces at sensitive booths and Quick Reaction Teams.

Security has been beefed up in the national capital for the Wednesday polls for the 70-member Delhi Legislative Assembly, said an official on Monday.
Special Commissioner of Police (Crime) and In-charge of the Election Cell, Devesh Chandra Srivastava outlined the preparations for the February 5 polls saying pre-poll arrangements have already been made, reported PTI.
"All Delhi Police personnel are committed to ensuring free, fair and peaceful elections," said the police official.
Over 150 companies of paramilitary forces and more than 30,000 police personnel will be deployed across Delhi, he said. "For sensitive booths, additional police force deployment will be ensured, and Quick Reaction Teams (QRT) will also be deployed to maintain peace, law, and order," the Special CP said.
He also said there have been record seizures of drugs and liquor along with regular cash seizures. Since the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct till Sunday, around 196 kg of drugs worth Rs 78 crores and and 1 lakh 8 thousand litres of illicit liquor worth Rs 3.75 crores have been seized.

A total of 33,434 people have been arrested under various legal provisions, including the Excise Act during the period while over 1,000 cases of alleged violations of MCC have been registered.
The Delhi Police held an inter-state coordination meeting with various law enforcement agencies in January to discuss security arrangements in the national capital.
The meeting was chaired by Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora and was attended by senior police officers from Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Rajasthan, Chandigarh, and Jammu and Kashmir.
"During the meeting, senior Delhi Police officers requested over 150 paramilitary companies and cyber-specialised officers to maintain strict vigilance. Over 30,000 police personnel will be deployed for polls," another police officer said.
